We are close to many great lakes such as Lake Mille Lacs, Moose Lake, and Sturgeon Lake, but it is nice to have a nearby swimming hole to cool off in the summer! Two miles east of the Shire on the right side of 41 (if you pass the mail box that looks like a red barn you went too far!) is the local sand pit which has a nice little spring-fed pond. There is a little dock and interesting areas to explore if you don’t want to get wet. People like to walk or ride bikes (if you did not bring one, we have plenty that you can use) to the swimming hole from the Shire. It is also a great place to find Minnesota Agates!
